Instructor's Biography: Jerzy Jarosz, M.D., Ph.D.
A graduate of the Medical Academy (Medical University) in Warsaw. For 30 years, he was a researcher at the Oncology Center in Warsaw, where, among other things, he headed the Department of Anesthesiology as well as the Department of Palliative Medicine (1983–2012).
He was a volunteer with the hospice movement in Poland and a co-founder of the Oncology Hospice in Warsaw (1989). From 2013 to 2021, he ran the Pain Management and Palliative Care Clinic and the Research and Teaching Center there.
In 2015 (i.e., two years before the legalization of medical cannabis in Poland) organized Poland's first „”Medical Marijuana Consultation Center.".He was a co-founder and the first president of the Polish Society for Medical Marijuana and Cannabinoid Medications.
He has participated in research projects on the use of nabiximols in the treatment of cancer pain. A study on Polish physicians’ attitudes toward the use of cannabis for medical purposes. He is a co-author of guidelines on the use of cannabis—specifically, the chapter on its applications in oncology and palliative care.
He is currently a consultant in palliative care and mechanical ventilation at the „Kaśmin” Center near Mińsk Mazowiecki.
